NEWPORT’S TJs is hosting a gig tomorrow night (doors open at 7pm) which showcases local talent including Elephant Rescue Plan, a four piece band from the city.
Influenced by the 60ft Dolls, Nirvana, The Jam, Queens of the Stone Age, David Bowie, the Small Faces and Elvis Costello, they have received air play from Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and Bethan Elfyn.
Then there’s The School from Cardiff are influenced by the Beach Boys and the Beatles and have played the festival summer circuit including the Latitude Festival. The Lowlights New, also from cardiff, promise infectious pop and have had support from on radio from the BBC.
Finally there’s Zissou, a six piece band who draw inspiration from such bands as The Flaming Lips and Super Furry Animals.
Tickets cost £3 on the door or £2 NUS.
